About PVX files
The .pvx extension typically represents a Drive Engineering Parameter File generated by SEW-EURODRIVE software, specifically MOVITOOLS MotionStudio. These files act as containers for project data, drive configurations, and parameter sets used to commission industrial motors and inverters.
For most users, the challenge with .pvx files is the proprietary lock-in. Opening them officially requires installing the heavy MOVITOOLS MotionStudio suite, which can be difficult to license or configure for a simple file inspection. However, a little-known technical fact is that the SEW-variant .pvx file is often just a renamed ZIP archive. Users needing to access the raw XML parameters or device data can often bypass the software requirement entirely by renaming the file extension from .pvx to zip and extracting the contents. This allows for immediate inspection of configuration data in a standard text editor.
A secondary, less common use of the format is as a compiled business application file for Sage Pro ERP (formerly ProvideX). These files contain executed business logic or encrypted scripts and are not human-readable or easily converted. For these, the original ProvideX runtime environment is strictly required.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PVX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PVX file to MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, 3GP, OGV, ASF or RM, you can use MOVITOOLS MotionStudio or similar software from the "Drive Engineering Parameters" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MTS, MOV, RMVB, DIVX, RM, H264, TS, WMV, VOB, MP4, XVID or AVI files to PVX, try MOVITOOLS MotionStudio or another comparable tool in the "Drive Engineering Parameters" category.
The PVX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PVX converter.
