About PVI files

The .PVI extension serves three distinct, proprietary functions, most commonly appearing as a Samsung Secure Folder protected image. Users frequently encounter these files after transferring data from a Samsung Android device to a PC, only to find their photos are locked inside this proprietary container. The main issue here is accessibility: .PVI files are essentially encrypted or obfuscated wrappers around standard JPG or PNG content, designed to be viewable only within the authenticated Samsung Knox environment. They cannot be opened by standard Windows viewers or Adobe Photoshop.

Beyond mobile security, .PVI files function in industrial sectors. In the oil and gas industry, they act as PVT (Pressure-Volume-Temperature) analysis files generated by Petroleum Experts (PetEx) software, containing crucial fluid thermodynamics data. In engineering, they serve as Product Visualization Data files for PTC Creo View, storing lightweight 3D visualization structures.

For Samsung users, the goal is typically recovering the visual image; converting to JPG or PNG is the priority. For engineering and industrial users, the need is often to extract data tables to CSV or archive reports to PDF/A without requiring a $2,000+ software license.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PVI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EPS, HDR and RGB files.
