A .PVI file is predominantly a Secure Folder protected image generated by Samsung Android devices. It acts as an encrypted wrapper around standard JPG files to prevent unauthorized access. The extension is also used by PTC Creo View for Product visualization data files (which use an internal XML structure), and by Petroleum Experts for PVT fluid analysis data.
Users typically encounter .PVI files when they incorrectly copy data from a Samsung Secure Folder directly to a PC without decrypting it first. The main disadvantage of this format is its strict proprietary encryption. Because the file is locked to the original device's hardware keys and Samsung credentials, standard image viewers and ordinary online converters will completely fail to process it. You cannot simply rename the file extension to JPG to view the image.
If your file originates from enterprise software like PTC Creo View, it contains complex 3D model metadata and structure references. This proprietary format is incredibly difficult to open or convert without a costly software subscription, as the internal data relies on specific assembly structures.
