About PSSL files
A .pssl file primarily functions as a digital sheet music setlist created by Piascore, a popular iOS application for musicians. This file acts as a container that bundles individual sheet music files (typically PDF or raster images) along with custom annotations into a single, organized setlist for live performances. Alternatively, in game development, a .pssl file represents a PlayStation Shader Language file. Developed by Sony, this format contains graphics rendering instructions written for PlayStation hardware.
The main disadvantage of the Piascore .pssl format is its strict ecosystem lock-in. Because Piascore is an iOS-exclusive app, musicians cannot easily share these setlist files with bandmates using Windows, Android, or competing sheet music apps like ForScore. This forces users into a closed ecosystem and is a key problem when collaborating. Furthermore, standard online converters fail to process .pssl files because they do not recognize the proprietary extension.
Fortunately, the Piascore .pssl file is internally structured as a standard ZIP archive. By converting or extracting this file to ZIP, you can retrieve the original unencrypted PDF documents stored inside. For the Sony shader variant, you can convert the plain text code to TXT or cross-reference it with other shader languages like HLSL.
Because these files are proprietary, direct conversion without the original software can be difficult. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the specific metadata.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PSSL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PSSL file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Piascore or similar software from the "Sheet Music Setlist Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to PSSL, try Piascore or another comparable tool in the "Sheet Music Setlist Archive" category.
The PSSL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PSSL converter.
