About PSSG files

A .pssg file is a proprietary PhyreEngine Scene Graph container primarily utilized by Codemasters for their EGO Engine racing games, including the F1 series, DiRT, and GRID. These binary archives function as compressed libraries that store essential game assets, such as 3D vehicle models, track geometry, and high-resolution texture maps. Because the format is a compiled binary blob designed for runtime efficiency rather than human readability, standard image viewers and 3D software like Blender cannot open them directly. Modders frequently run into problems due to version discrepancies; a .pssg file from F1 2012 is often structurally incompatible with one from F1 2020, leading to crashes if mishandled. Additionally, the textures inside are often stored in raw DDS formats that require specific compression settings (like DXT5 or BC7) to work in-game. For editing, the workflow typically involves extracting the internal textures to DDS, converting those to PNG or TIFF for editing in Adobe Photoshop, and then re-packing them. For 3D archiving, users often convert the mesh data to OBJ or glTF.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PSSG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RAR, VTP, VTK and GED files.
