About POF files
The .POF extension most frequently identifies a Programmer Object File generated by Intel Quartus Prime (formerly Altera). These binary files contain configuration data used to program CPLD or FPGA devices via a parallel programmer. While essential for hardware deployment, they are not human-readable and cannot be easily edited back into source code (VHDL/Verilog). Users often need to convert these to JIC (JTAG Indirect Configuration) or RBF (Raw Binary File) to support different programming methods or hardware interfaces.
Alternatively, a .POF file may be a Printer Output File used by Zebra label printers, often containing ZPL (Zebra Programming Language) instructions. These files are notoriously difficult to preview on standard PCs without specialized drivers. Converting Zebra POF files to PDF or PNG allows for easy proofing and archiving without wasting physical label stock. Less common uses include Practice-Web dental database files (often SQLite-based) and legacy 3D model files for games like Descent. For database variants, converting to CSV or Excel is recommended for data migration.
Convert.Guru analyzes your POF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PDF, TXT, ZIP, SMD, LVL and WAD files.
The POF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our POF converter.
