Extract text from PJX files

The .PJX file extension represents two distinct but technical file types that often cause compatibility headaches due to their proprietary nature.
First, and currently most common, is the Trotec JobControl file. Used by Trotec Laser systems, this file stores job information for laser engraving and cutting, including vector paths, raster images, and material settings (speed, power, Hz). The major drawback here is the hardware dependency; you typically cannot open a Trotec PJX file without the JobControl software and a connection to the laser machine. However, these files are often ZIP-compressed containers. A pragmatic workaround for extracting data - such as the embedded XML instructions or preview images - is to rename the extension to ZIP and extract the contents manually. For documentation or client approval, users often need to convert the visual data within these jobs to PDF or SVG.
Second, the .PJX extension serves as the main project file for Microsoft Visual FoxPro. While VFP is a discontinued (End-of-Life) platform, legacy systems still rely on it. A VFP PJX file tracks all components of a developer's application (forms, reports, code). A little-known fact is that a VFP PJX file is structurally identical to a standard DBF database table. If you lack the original Visual FoxPro IDE, you can often treat the file as a database to inspect its contents or export the file list to CSV or Excel for migration planning.
