Convert a file to FKY

To convert other file formats to the "Automation Macro" file type, you need software like Visual FoxPro or a similar tool.

About FKY files

The .FKY file extension serves as a Keyboard Macro file, primarily generated by the now-discontinued Microsoft Visual FoxPro (and its predecessor, FoxPro for DOS/Windows). These files act as automation containers, storing sequences of keystrokes assigned to specific function keys or shortcuts to speed up repetitive database management tasks.

Because Microsoft officially ended support for Visual FoxPro in 2015, these files are effectively orphaned. The primary catch for users is proprietary lock-in: .FKY files are often binary or encoded in a way that renders them unreadable in standard text editors like Notepad++. Users migrating legacy database systems to modern SQL environments often need to extract the logic embedded in these macros but find themselves blocked by the format's obscurity.

For archival and migration purposes, the best approach is to convert these files to TXT (Plain Text) to decipher the macro commands, or PDF for documentation.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FKY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted LBX, QPX and FXP files.

The FKY Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FKY converter.
