About PHB files
The .phb extension represents a 'container collision' used by three distinct groups, creating confusion for users.
DevelNext Project Bundle (Most Common): Created by the DevelNext IDE, these are compiled Java/PHP bytecode archives (similar to a .JAR). Developers and gamers often try to convert these back to source code to modify games or applications, but they are 'locked' binary assets designed for execution, not editing.
Legacy Photo Album: Older software like ArcSoft PhotoBase and Roxio PhotoSuite used .phb files as 'album indices.' Crucial Context: The .phb file often does not contain the actual photos; it is a database pointing to .JPG files stored in a connected folder. Converting the .phb usually means parsing this index to locate your lost images.
Phylogenetic Tree Data: In bioinformatics, software like PHYLIP generates these files to represent evolutionary relationships. These are scientific data files that need to be converted to Newick format (.TREE) or visualized as PDF for publication.
For DevelNext files, there is no direct 'converter' to human-readable code. For PhotoBase files, if you cannot find the original software, your best bet is to open the file in a Hex Editor to see if it lists file paths for your images.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PHB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PHB file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use DevelNext or similar software from the "Compiled Project or Album Index" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to PHB, try DevelNext or another comparable tool in the "Compiled Project or Album Index" category.
The PHB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PHB converter.
