About PEZ files
A .pez file is a legacy presentation archive created by Prezi Classic, the zooming presentation software that served as a dynamic alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint. These files are essentially ZIP containers that bundle the presentation's assets - such as XML data, images, and Flash (.SWF) video content - into a single offline package.
Users typically encounter .pez files when trying to access old presentations saved for offline use. The primary challenge is that Prezi Classic has been discontinued in favor of Prezi Next, leaving many users with "locked" files they cannot open without specific legacy desktop software. Furthermore, because Prezi relies on a non-linear, zooming canvas rather than linear slides, converting .pez directly to PPTX or PDF is technically difficult and often results in a loss of the signature animation effects.
For most users, the most practical solution is to convert the file to PDF for static archiving or MP4 video to preserve the visual flow. Advanced users can rename the extension from .pez to zip to manually extract the internal images and media assets using standard tools like WinRAR or 7-Zip.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PEZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PEZ file to ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE, ARJ or LHA, you can use Prezi Desktop or similar software from the "Offline Prezi Presentation" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to PEZ, try Prezi Desktop or another comparable tool in the "Offline Prezi Presentation" category.
The PEZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PEZ converter.
