About PDG files

A .PDG file (Portable Document Graphics) primarily functions as a single scanned page within a proprietary Chinese e-book format developed for digital libraries by Superstar SSReader and Founder Apabi. Internally, these files often wrap standard image data (like JFIF/JPEG or PNG) inside a custom header, sometimes encrypted with aggressive DRM to prevent copying. Alternatively, the .PDG extension is used as page data components within multi-page DjVu document bundles, or as legacy project files from 1990s desktop publishing software like Broderbund Print Shop and Sierra Print Artist.

Handling .PDG files natively is extremely frustrating. The original Superstar software is obsolete, relies on outdated dependencies, and is often flagged by modern antivirus engines. It is entirely incompatible with modern web browsers, smartphones, and standard e-readers. Legacy Print Shop files are similarly locked into obsolete 32-bit environments.

To reclaim your data, you must convert these files. For archiving and multi-page reading, convert a folder of .PDG pages into a single PDF document. For web design or simple viewing, extract the raw raster data into standard JPG or PNG formats. Be aware that heavily DRM-encrypted SSReader files may block extraction, requiring OCR tools as a fallback.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PDG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, JPG, PNG, ZIP, PGD, DPG, JPEG, DOCX, LRF and AZW3 files.
