Convert PATH to another file type

To convert PATH pathways to another format, you need KEGG Mapper or other Data software.

Convert a file to PATH

To convert other file formats to the "Bioinformatics & Document Files" file type, you need software like KEGG Mapper or a similar tool.

About PATH files

A .path file typically serves one of two entirely different functions. In bioinformatics, it stores KEGG pathway analysis results used to map complex genetic, metabolic, or lipid networks. In standard computing, it is often a disguised Portable Document Format (PDF) file or file path pointer associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

For biological data, researchers use specialized tools like KEGG Mapper or the LIPID MAPS Pathway Editor to open the files. If the file is a PDF disguise, any standard PDF reader can process it once renamed.

Biological pathway files are highly specialized XML or plain-text datasets. If you try to share them with a colleague, standard document viewers will fail to render the visual network. Furthermore, if a standard PDF is saved as a .path file, modern operating systems will not recognize it and will refuse to open it.

To make this data usable, converting KEGG pathways to standard vector images like SVG or PDF preserves the scalable diagrams for publication. For Adobe-related files, simply renaming or converting them back to pdf restores full compatibility with web browsers.

Because of their proprietary or disguised nature, .path files are notoriously difficult to open without the right context. Our system will inspect the internal signature to identify whether it is a pathway dataset or a PDF document, allowing you to view and convert the underlying format if supported.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PATH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PATHS, HTML, PDF, PRINT, TFA and EN files.

The PATH Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PATH converter.
