A .SIMS2PACK file is a specialized compressed archive used to distribute and install custom content (CC) for The Sims 2. Players use these files to share user-created lots (houses), custom Sims, clothing, and recolored objects.
By default, these files are opened by the official Sims 2 Package Installer provided by Electronic Arts. However, the community heavily relies on third-party alternatives like Sims2Pack Clean Installer to safely inspect the contents before loading them into the game.
The original format suffers from severe disadvantages today. The official installer is notoriously outdated, frequently freezes on modern operating systems, and forces you to install all bundled files blindly.
