Convert OT to another file type
To convert your OT file to another format, you need Microsoft Office Lens or other Data software.
Convert a file to OT
To convert other file formats to the "Configuration & Data Storage" file type, you need software like Microsoft Office Lens or a similar tool.
About OT files
The .OT file extension is a "chameleon" format used in three distinct, high-tech environments.
Microsoft Entity Extraction Template (30%): Most commonly, this is a configuration file used by Microsoft Windows components and Microsoft Office Lens. It functions as a template for identifying and extracting specific data entities (like dates, addresses, or receipts) from images during OCR (Optical Character Recognition) processes. These files are typically proprietary, hidden system assets that users rarely need to edit manually.
OctoMap 3D Data (22%): In robotics and mapping, an .OT file is a serialized Octree structure created by the OctoMap library. Unlike the binary BT format, the .OT file stores full occupancy probabilities, making it the lossless gold standard for archiving 3D robot mapping data. However, you cannot open these in standard 3D viewers like Blender without converting them first.
Riverbed OPNET Output (19%): For network engineers, this file contains output vectors or simulation traces from Riverbed Modeler (formerly OPNET). These files can grow to hundreds of megabytes, locking critical performance data inside a proprietary format that Microsoft Excel cannot natively read.
Conversion Advice:
For 3D Maps: Use octovis or octoconvert to transform .OT files into PCD (Point Cloud Data) or PLY files for viewing in standard CAD software.
For Simulation Data: Export .OT vectors from Riverbed Modeler directly to CSV or XLSX to analyze throughput and latency data in spreadsheets.
For Bible Study: If the file is from theWord, it is a text module; simply rename to TXT or import directly into the software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert OT file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use Microsoft Office Lens or similar software from the "Entity Extraction Template" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert PDF, DOC, ASC, TODO, NFO, MEMO, README, DOCX, JPG, TXT, NOTE or RTF files to OT, try Microsoft Office Lens or another comparable tool in the "Entity Extraction Template" category.
The OT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OT converter.
