About OR5 files

An .OR5 file is a legacy personal information manager (PIM) database created by Lotus Organizer version 5, originally developed by Lotus Software and later acquired by IBM. It stores contacts, calendars, to-do lists, notes, and calls in a digital binder interface.\n\nThe primary disadvantage of the .OR5 format is that it is severely outdated and proprietary. Lotus Organizer was discontinued years ago, meaning modern 64-bit operating systems cannot run the software natively without virtual machines. Opening an .OR5 file today is a major challenge because no current web browsers, email clients, or standard office suites support it.\n\nUsers desperately need to convert these files to migrate their legacy data to modern cloud ecosystems.
