About OPX files

The .opx file extension is primarily associated with OrgPlus, a dedicated software solution for creating professional organizational charts and HR hierarchy diagrams. Originally developed by Banner Blue (and later Insperity), these files store complex tree structures, employee data fields, and styling rules.

The Problem: The .opx format is highly proprietary. While it efficiently stores hierarchical data, it is a common source of problems when sharing charts with stakeholders who do not have OrgPlus installed. It is not natively supported by standard office suites like Microsoft Office or web browsers, and attempting to open it in Visio often fails without specific import filters. Furthermore, a smaller subset of .opx files are Origin Project files (or Exchange files) created by OriginLab Origin, used for scientific data analysis and graphing. These XML-based variants are equally inaccessible to standard image viewers.

The Solution: To make these files usable, the recommended workflow is conversion based on intent:

Convert.Guru analyzes your OPX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted OXPS, TXT, BIN, JPG and PDF files.

The OPX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OPX converter.
