Convert a file to OPX
To convert other file formats to the "Organizational Chart Data" file type, you need software like OrgPlus or a similar tool.
About OPX files
The .OPX file extension primarily belongs to OrgPlus, an organizational charting application managed by Insperity. These files store hierarchical company structures, employee contact data, and visual chart layouts. A secondary, but highly common use for the .OPX extension is the Origin data analysis and graphing software, where it acts as a project file containing structured XML data, scientific worksheets, and 2D/3D graphs.
The main disadvantage of .OPX files is their deeply proprietary nature. You need a costly software license for OrgPlus or OriginPro to edit or even properly view them. They cannot be opened natively in web browsers or standard office suites, making them terrible for general distribution across a company.
To effectively share an OrgPlus chart with a team, you must export it to a standard PDF or PPTX file. For OriginLab projects, extracting the raw data to CSV or XML ensures long-term accessibility.
Because both types of .OPX files rely heavily on specific application environments, standard online converters almost always fail to interpret the complex visual formatting or specialized scientific data arrays. Only the original software can properly export the data with 100% fidelity. Our tool will inspect the internal structure of your .OPX file to determine if it is an OrgPlus chart, an XML-based Origin project, or even a legacy FlipAlbum file. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OPX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert OPX file to PDF, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT or DB, you can use OrgPlus or similar software from the "Organizational Chart and Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to OPX, try OrgPlus or another comparable tool in the "Organizational Chart and Data" category.
The OPX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OPX converter.
