A .ONEPKG file is a proprietary archive format generated by Microsoft OneNote to bundle an entire notebook - comprising multiple sections (ONE) and a table of contents (ONETOC2) - into a single file. This format is primarily used for backing up notebooks or sharing them between Windows PC users. However, ONEPKG files suffer from significant compatibility friction. They are essentially "locked" to the desktop version of OneNote on Windows; users on macOS, mobile devices, or the web-based OneNote interface often cannot open them directly. Furthermore, because it is a binary container, the text within is not indexed by standard system search tools, and the file cannot be viewed without specific software installation. To make the content accessible, users should convert ONEPKG to PDF for universal archiving and printing.
