About NOTE files

The .note file format represents digital note data created by various applications. The most common creators are Apple Notes (often using a compressed ZIP structure) and Samsung Notes. E-ink tablets like the Ratta Supernote also generate .note files to store handwritten data and vector annotations. Other tools, such as the open-source Tomboy notepad (which uses an XML structure) and Notability, utilize this identical extension for entirely different internal structures.

The main disadvantage of a .note file is its extreme fragmentation. Because 'note' is a generic term, multiple companies use the exact same file extension for completely different, highly proprietary formats. You cannot open a Samsung .note file in Apple Notes, or vice versa. Furthermore, these files often require a closed ecosystem or a specific hardware device to open. They are not natively supported by web browsers, making sharing notes across different operating systems incredibly frustrating and error-prone.

To share these notes reliably, you must convert them. The best target format is a PDF document to preserve formatting, handwriting, and images across all devices. For plain text data, converting to TXT or MD (Markdown) is ideal. If the note contains attachments, extracting them as a ZIP archive or into standard JPG and PNG files is the best approach to save your media.

Because these formats are heavily tied to their original apps, standard online converters usually fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, just drag and drop your file onto convert.guru to identify the format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format (such as standard XML or a ZIP container), viewing or extracting the text and images may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NOTE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SDOCX, CNOTE, TXT, NOTES, PAGE, PDF, SNOTE, ZNOTE, PAGES, DOCX, RTF, NP and MD files.
