About OMS files
The .OMS file extension primarily refers to the Open Module System package used by 1C:Enterprise software solutions, serving as a compressed container for module configurations. However, a significant number of users encounter this format as an HP Media Solution file (or Substrate Preset) used by HP DesignJet and Latex printers.
In the HP context, the file is a proprietary package containing ICC color profiles, XML mechanical parameters, and print mode data. A common source of frustration is that these files cannot be double-clicked to view their contents on Windows or macOS; they are designed to be imported directly via the printer's Embedded Web Server or HP Click software. Because both the 1C and HP variants are essentially renamed ZIP archives, users often wish to "convert" them to standard folders to inspect the internal XML settings or extract a specific ICC profile for use in Adobe Photoshop or ONYX RIP. Converting or renaming the extension to ZIP is the most practical workaround for viewing the raw data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OMS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert OMS file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use HP SmartStream or similar software from the "Printer Media Profile Package" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to OMS, try HP SmartStream or another comparable tool in the "Printer Media Profile Package" category.
The OMS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OMS converter.
