About OID files

The .OID file format serves two main but entirely different purposes. In network administration, it acts as a MIB Object Identifier file or an Object Identifier definition file for Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) systems like Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and Cisco hardware. In these cases, it stores structural data nodes that help network monitors interpret device statuses. Alternatively, in the realm of productivity software, an .OID file functions as an Office Art drawing object or an encrypted database file utilized by Microsoft Office or OpenOffice.org Impress. The primary disadvantage of both variations is their strict proprietary nature. Networking .OID files are obscure configuration files that standard text editors may corrupt if saved incorrectly, while Office Art .OID objects are often encrypted or deeply embedded, making them inaccessible outside their native presentation context. This lack of interoperability is a massive pain point. For networking files, converting to human-readable TXT, CSV, or XML formats is ideal for manual auditing. For Office drawing objects, users typically need standard vector or raster formats like SVG, PNG, or JPG. However, this file format is difficult to open or convert directly because it often lacks standard header information and is designed exclusively for internal software processes. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Standard online converters fail because they expect common document structures. Fortunately, convert.guru offers a pragmatic solution. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction of internal text and database structures may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your OID file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TXT, MIB, MY, MCB and HEX files.

The OID Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OID converter.
