Convert MIB to another file type

To convert MIB management files to another format, you need Net-SNMP or other Data software.

Convert a file to MIB

To convert other file formats to the "SNMP Configuration Schema" file type, you need software like Net-SNMP or a similar tool.

About MIB files

The .MIB file is an SNMP Management Information Base. It is an ASCII text file written in Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN.1). Network administrators use these files to define the hierarchical structure of network objects managed via the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). A .MIB file is not a database. It is a schema that translates numerical Object Identifiers (OIDs) into human-readable text. You can open and compile them using software like Net-SNMP or dedicated graphical MIB browsers.

Working with .MIB files presents serious challenges. Because they rely on strict, legacy ASN.1 formatting, a single missing import or syntax error will break standard MIB compilers. Furthermore, most .MIB files are entirely useless on their own. They depend heavily on standard base files like SNMPv2-SMI or RFC1213-MIB. Managing these dependencies manually is frustrating. Finally, they are not supported by web browsers or generic data processing tools.

Conversion is the pragmatic workaround to make OID data accessible. For programmatic access and modern web development, convert .MIB to JSON or XML. For easy viewing, auditing, and spreadsheet analysis, convert to CSV. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser - free, online, and without installing complex network management software.

*(Note: In rare cases, .MIB is used as a proprietary game data container for World of Warcraft by Blizzard Entertainment or as a 3D model file for the Capcom MT Framework engine. These proprietary binary files cannot be parsed by SNMP tools.)*

Convert.Guru analyzes your MIB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MY, TXT, PDF, JPG, ZIP, YAML, JPEG, XML, DOCX, PNG, PPTX, GZ and MP4 files.

FAQ

If you want to convert MIB file to GB, MB, GIB, TB, BYTES, TIB, OID, SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV or VXD, you can use Net-SNMP or similar software from the "Network Device Object Schema" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to MIB, try Net-SNMP or another comparable tool in the "Network Device Object Schema" category.

The MIB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MIB converter.
