A .OCA file primarily functions as an ActiveX Control Cache File created by legacy Microsoft Visual Basic environments. It stores compiled type library information for custom controls (OCX), allowing the development environment to load them faster. Alternatively, the .OCA extension is used for HPE One Config Advanced system configurations (often stored as XML), and Open CASCADE open-source CAD geometry files used in FreeCAD.
The main disadvantage of the ActiveX .OCA format is its extreme obsolescence. It relies on outdated, proprietary Microsoft technologies that pose security risks and are not supported by modern operating systems or web browsers. These binary cache files cannot be easily read or converted without the original legacy development tools. If you have an HPE config variant, it is intimately tied to specific proprietary server hardware, making the raw data useless outside that specific IT ecosystem.
Converting a .OCA file depends entirely on its internal structure. An HPE config file can often be viewed or converted to standard TXT or XML formats. If it is an Open CASCADE CAD file, it might be convertible to standard 3D formats like STEP or IGES. Because this format is often a closed, proprietary cache, standard online converters fail to process it.
