About OBW files
The .OBW file format is a proprietary audio container used to store multi-channel drum samples. These files are built primarily for Toontrack Superior Drummer 3. Under the hood, they utilize a RIFF structure to hold complex audio data, including multiple velocity layers and microphone bleed channels for realistic drum emulation. Users typically need to convert .OBW files because the format is heavily locked down. They cannot be played in standard media players like VLC, and they cannot be directly imported into standard digital audio workstations without the expensive Toontrack plugin. The files are often gigantic, consuming gigabytes of disk space. Producers often want to extract the raw drum hits to use in lightweight samplers. The best target format for these audio samples is lossless WAV or FLAC to preserve audio quality. Standard online converters fail to process .OBW files because the data is proprietary and tied to Toontrack's licensing ecosystem. Often, only the original software can properly export the audio data. If our analysis detects an unencrypted, supported embedded RIFF format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OBW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted SOUNDSTATS, DAT, TCI, XSB, RFL and WAV files.
