About NV files
The .NV file format serves multiple distinct purposes depending on the software or hardware that created it. Most frequently, it functions as a non-volatile random-access memory (NVRAM) settings backup for LG Electronics televisions and the MAME arcade emulator. It is also actively used as a video editing project file by the Node Video mobile app. A rare secondary use is as a database file for NewViews accounting software. Users typically need to convert or open these files when attempting to extract data from a television firmware backup, recover arcade high scores, or share video projects. However, the .NV format comes with severe limitations. NVRAM files are raw, highly proprietary binary dumps of hardware states. They lack standard file structures and are strictly tied to specific firmware versions. Conversely, a Node Video .NV file relies entirely on JSON text instructions to track timeline edits, meaning it contains no actual video or audio data. Consequently, standard online video converters fail completely because the media files are absent. This file format is exceptionally difficult to process outside its native ecosystem. For video files, you must render the final output directly within the Node Video app to acquire an MP4 file. For NVRAM backups, the data must be restored to the exact target hardware.
