About NSL files

The .NSL extension primarily identifies SECS/GEM communication logs generated by eInnoSys EIB (Equipment Interface Bridge) software. These logs are critical in the semiconductor manufacturing industry for recording data exchange between fabrication equipment and host systems using the SECS-II message protocol. Engineers rely on these files to troubleshoot automation failures, track wafer processing, and audit equipment states.

The Problem: Raw .NSL logs are often stored in a proprietary or semi-structured format designed for machine parsing rather than human reading. Opening them directly in standard text editors like Notepad++ can result in garbled data or poor formatting, making it difficult to isolate specific error codes or message timestamps without the specific NSLDecoder tool.

The Solution:

Secondary Format: A smaller percentage of .NSL files are Nullsoft Scriptable Language scripts. These are text-based source files used to create installers for the Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (NSIS) or plugins for Winamp. These can be edited in any text editor or converted to TXT for safe viewing.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NSL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted NL, NIM, NRT and NGG files.

The NSL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NSL converter.
