About NSL files

The .nsl file extension primarily belongs to SECS/GEM communication log files generated by eInnoSys EIB (Equipment Interface Bridge) software. In semiconductor manufacturing, the SECS/GEM protocol facilitates communication between fabrication equipment and host factory systems. Engineers rely on these logs to troubleshoot tool automation, audit machinery states, and capture real-time production events. A secondary use of the extension is the nsL Script, a high-level programming language used by Nullsoft to build NSIS installation wizards.

The main disadvantage of SECS/GEM .nsl logs is their proprietary formatting. Designed strictly for machine parsing, they are virtually unreadable without expensive, specialized software like NSLDecoder.Cx or the original eInnoSys platform. Furthermore, these log files easily exceed hundreds of megabytes in size, making them difficult to open in standard text editors and lacking native support in web browsers.

For most engineers and data analysts, converting these logs into standard TXT or CSV formats is the pragmatic solution. While conversion may strip out some of the advanced hierarchical formatting natively rendered by the EIB software, a CSV file empowers you to easily filter, chart, and analyze the raw data inside standard spreadsheet software.

Because of their highly specialized, closed nature, standard online converters often fail to process .nsl logs correctly. Just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, view the internal text structure, and convert it when our analysis detects a supported underlying data format.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NSL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted NL, NIM, NRT and NGG files.

FAQ

If you want to convert NSL file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use eInnoSys EIB or similar software from the "SECS/GEM Communication Log" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to NSL, try eInnoSys EIB or another comparable tool in the "SECS/GEM Communication Log" category.

The NSL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NSL converter.
