Convert a file to NIM
To convert other file formats to the "Source Code or Game Data" file type, you need software like Nim Compiler or a similar tool.
About NIM files
A .NIM file primarily serves one of two completely distinct functions: it is either a human-readable source code file written in the Nim programming language, or a proprietary game data file (such as item name mappings and world block data) used by the survival game 7 Days to Die. In rare cases, it also functions as a save file for independent adult RPGs like Nimin.
The massive disadvantage of the .NIM format is its heavily contextual nature. If it contains Nim source code, users are forced to use specialized code editors with Nim syntax plugins to read it effectively. If it is a 7 Days to Die game file, it is a proprietary, closed binary or heavily structured data format. Standard online converters fail to process these game files because they completely lack the specific parsing logic required to unpack the game's internal variables. For the programming variant, standard converters cannot natively compile .NIM files into executable machine code without the actual Nim Compiler toolchain.
For source code files, the best conversion targets are C, CPP, or JS (since Nim natively compiles to these) or standard TXT for simple reading. Game data files practically cannot be converted without specialized community modding tools, though extracting JSON or XML representations is highly desired by modders.
Because the game data variant is a closed, proprietary format, only the original game engine can properly read or export the data. However, just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the binary file, and show underlying text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NIM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert NIM file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use Nim Compiler or similar software from the "Source Code & Game Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to NIM, try Nim Compiler or another comparable tool in the "Source Code & Game Data" category.
The NIM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NIM converter.
