Convert a file to NS2
To convert other file formats to the "Game Resource Archive" file type, you need software like NScripter or a similar tool.
About NS2 files
The .NS2 file extension is a somewhat ambiguous container format, most frequently encountered as a resource archive for visual novels powered by the NScripter engine. In this context, the file functions as a locked briefcase containing the game's assets - background art, character sprites (PNG, BMP), background music (OGG, WAV), and script data. Users often stumble upon these files when attempting to mod a game, translate a visual novel, or simply extract the artwork for personal use. The primary problem here is that standard archive tools like 7-Zip or WinRAR often cannot recognize or unpack these proprietary archives directly, requiring specialized unpacking tools like GARbro or command-line extractors specific to the NScripter version.
A secondary but critical use case involves legacy database management. An .NS2 file may represent an archaic Lotus Notes 2 database. These files are effectively "digital fossils" from the early 1990s. Opening them in modern HCL Notes (formerly IBM Notes) is often impossible without an intermediate conversion step, posing a significant challenge for enterprise data recovery and archiving.
Less commonly, you might encounter this extension as a skin file for Navitel Navigator (often just a renamed ZIP), or raw neural signal data from Blackrock Neurotech systems.
For NScripter archives, the goal is extraction rather than direct conversion; you 'convert' the container into its loose components (images and audio). For Lotus Notes files, the target is usually a modern NSF file or a PST for import into Microsoft Outlook.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NS2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert NS2 file to DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD, FRM or SQL, you can use NScripter or similar software from the "Visual Novel Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to NS2, try NScripter or another comparable tool in the "Visual Novel Archive" category.
The NS2 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NS2 converter.
