To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Data Archive" file type, you need software like MikroTik RouterOS or a similar tool.
About NPK files
An .NPK file is predominantly a proprietary data archive. It is used either by video game engines (such as NetEase NeoX, KiriKiri, and Neople) to package game assets, or by MikroTik to distribute RouterOS firmware updates. In the gaming industry, these files bundle thousands of internal resources like 3D models, textures, and audio tracks into a single container.
These files are highly restrictive and poorly documented. Because they are proprietary, standard extraction tools like WinRAR or 7-Zip usually cannot open them. They often use custom encryption or non-standard compression headers specifically designed to prevent users from modifying or extracting the internal game data. For RouterOS users, the file is a compiled system package that must be directly uploaded to the router hardware, making desktop viewing impossible by default.
Users typically want to convert or extract .NPK game archives to access individual PNG, WAV, or OBJ files for modding or data analysis. To bypass the custom headers, specialized script-based extraction tools like QuickBMS or Unity Asset Bundle Extractor (UABE) are often required.
Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Our engine can inspect the binary signature of the .NPK file and, if a supported underlying embedded format is detected, we can help extract the internal contents safely.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NPK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert NPK file to PPM, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE or ARJ, you can use MikroTik RouterOS or similar software from the "Data and Firmware Archival" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to NPK, try MikroTik RouterOS or another comparable tool in the "Data and Firmware Archival" category.
The NPK Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NPK converter.
