Extract text from NJB files
To convert your NJB file to another format, you need Nikon Transfer or other Data software.
To convert other file formats to the "Transfer Log File" file type, you need software like Nikon Transfer or a similar tool.
A .NJB file is typically a Nikon Photo Index or Transfer Log, often generated by Nikon Transfer software or Nikon digital cameras (such as the Coolpix series).
Users frequently encounter these files in the MISC folder of an SD card or inside legacy backup folders and assume they contain image data. This is the most common point of friction: the .NJB file is not a photo. It is a lightweight metadata file (often formatted as XML) that serves as a "manifest" or job list, tracking which images have been transferred to a computer or indexing the order of photos for the camera's playback menu. Because it contains no pixel data, you cannot convert a .NJB file into a JPG or NEF image to "restore" a lost picture.
However, the file can be valuable for forensic or organizational purposes. By converting the .NJB to TXT or XML, you can read the internal logs to verify original file paths, timestamps, and transfer statuses. For archiving this metadata in a more standard format, converting to PDF is also a valid workflow.
