About NB0 files

.NB0 files are raw memory map binaries used to store bootloaders, OS kernels, and complete firmware updates. They are predominantly deployed as Windows CE ROM images, or as critical update packages for mobile devices (like Nokia phones) and satellite receivers built on MediaTek or ALI Corp chipsets. Hardware-specific flashing programs like Nuvoton NuWriter or SP Flash Tool are required to write these files directly to a device's NAND or NOR flash memory.

Working with this format is frustrating and dangerous for average users. .NB0 files are opaque, proprietary binary blobs. You cannot open them directly in Windows or macOS, and they lack a universal file header. Because they are uncompressed, 1:1 memory dumps, file sizes are often huge. Furthermore, they are hardware-locked; flashing an incorrect .NB0 file will permanently "brick" your device. Users frequently need to convert or extract them to BIN, IMG, or ZIP formats to safely analyze the filesystem, extract default ringtones, or modify the boot logo.

This file format is incredibly difficult to open or convert because it is a closed, low-level system format tailored to specific CPU architectures (like ARM or MIPS). Standard online converters fail to process it because there is no standardized document or image data to extract. Often, only the original OEM development tools can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded filesystem (such as FAT or ext4), viewing or extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NB0 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JPG, EPS and EMZ files.

The NB0 Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NB0 converter.
