The .MTW file is primarily used to store proprietary statistical data worksheets for Minitab Statistical Software. Under the hood, modern .MTW files often use a ZIP container, while legacy versions rely on the older Microsoft Compound binary format. A rare secondary use for the .MTW extension is the 8H39 Waveform File, a synthesizer wave sample collection used by the Yamaha RM1x music sequencer.
