The .mma file extension primarily represents either a MindManager Mind Map File created by Mindjet MindManager or a legacy Flash Sound Archive used by Macromedia Flash. Less commonly, it functions as a Master Album Maker Photo Album file. MindManager uses the .mma format to save visual brainstorms, project plans, and organizational charts. Technically, a MindManager .mma file is a standard ZIP archive containing an internal XML structure alongside embedded image assets.
These formats present severe accessibility issues. Opening a MindManager file normally requires a costly commercial license for MindManager. The Macromedia Flash version is completely obsolete; modern audio players cannot decode these proprietary sound banks. You cannot natively view or listen to either version in a standard web browser or on a smartphone.
To share these files effectively, conversion is mandatory. For mind maps, converting to PDF, JPG, or extracting the raw XML ensures anyone can view the data without proprietary software. For Flash audio, extracting the tracks to standard MP3 or WAV is the only way to preserve the sounds.
Because this file format is a closed, proprietary schema (in the case of MindManager) or an undocumented, obsolete archive (in the case of Flash), standard online converters frequently fail to process it.
