Convert a file to MIN
To convert other file formats to the "Machine Code & Scientific Data" file type, you need software like Okuma OSP Controller or a similar tool.
About MIN files
The .min file extension is highly fragmented and shared by several specialized formats. Its most frequent uses include CNC machine programs for Okuma and Fanuc controllers, Geomagnetic minute data files using the IAGA-2002 format, and minified JSON data files.
For industrial machining, .min files contain G-code or proprietary machine instructions used by Okuma OSP controllers or CAM software like Mastercam. In scientific fields, they store standardized magnetic field measurements for INTERMAGNET.
The main disadvantage of the .min format is this extreme fragmentation. A CNC .min file is often proprietary machine code designed to dictate precise physical tool movements. If you do not own the specific Okuma or Fanuc machinery, or an expensive CAM software license, the file is practically useless to a standard operating system. Furthermore, many of these files lack standard headers, confusing typical file viewers.
If the file contains CNC instructions (G-code) or text-based data, it is best converted to standard TXT, NC, or JSON formats for universal readability. Be aware that converting a proprietary CNC program to a generic format may strip machine-specific macros or toolpath metadata.
Opening or converting .min files is notoriously difficult because they rely heavily on the original hardware or specialized software to parse the data correctly. However, standard online converters often fail to process them due to their ambiguous nature. Even if it is a closed, proprietary machine format, our engine can inspect the underlying code and extract readable text or embedded data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MIN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MIN file to SEC, DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT or X_T, you can use Okuma OSP Controller or similar software from the "CNC Machine Control & Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to MIN, try Okuma OSP Controller or another comparable tool in the "CNC Machine Control & Data" category.
The MIN Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MIN converter.
