About MGP files
The .MGP file format serves multiple entirely different purposes. Most commonly, it is a gaming macro script file created by MacroGamer or X-Mouse Button Control. These files store recorded keystrokes, mouse movements, and timing configurations. Alternatively, a .MGP file is a MapGuide Resource Package used by Autodesk MapGuide and MapGuide Open Source. In this GIS context, it acts as a ZIP archive containing XML documents and map layer data. Finally, it may occasionally appear as a system graph file in HollySys HOLLiAS MACS industrial control systems. The main disadvantage of .MGP files is their proprietary nature. A MacroGamer .MGP file cannot be directly imported into Razer Synapse or Logitech G Hub without manual translation. MapGuide packages require complex server setups just to view a single map layer. Users typically need to convert .MGP macros to standard TXT or XML to read the raw input commands, or extract MapGuide packages to ZIP to access the underlying spatial data. These formats are difficult to convert because they are built for highly specific software environments. A gaming macro relies on precise engine timings, while a HOLLiAS graph is tied to proprietary SCADA systems. If our analysis detects standard embedded data like the MapGuide ZIP structure, extraction and viewing will be instantly available.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MGP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The MGP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MGP converter.
