Convert MF1 to another file type
To convert MF1 models to another format, you need Cimatron or other Cad software.
Convert a file to MF1
To convert other file formats to the "CAD/CAM Model File" file type, you need software like Cimatron or a similar tool.
About MF1 files
The .MF1 file is a specialized 3D model format primarily used by Cimatron, a CAD/CAM software suite developed by 3D Systems. A significant portion of these files are also associated with Autodesk Moldflow. These files store intricate 3D solid geometry, CNC machining toolpaths, and thermal flow data for plastic injection molding simulations. They are heavily utilized in industrial tooling, mold design, and manufacturing environments.
Users often face severe compatibility issues with .MF1 files because they are tightly locked into expensive, enterprise-level Computer-aided design ecosystems. If a client or manufacturing partner does not have a $5000+ software license, they cannot view or measure the part. The files are also heavily binary, proprietary, and completely unsupported by modern web browsers or standard image viewers.
To share these designs effectively, you must convert the .MF1 file into a universal CAD exchange format like STEP, IGES, or STL. Exporting to STEP preserves the solid bodies and complex surface geometry. Converting to STL turns the model into a polygon mesh, which is perfect for 3D printing but permanently strips away parametric editing history and precise curves.
Because the .MF1 format is closed and strictly proprietary, standard online converters completely fail to process the geometric data. Often, only the original Cimatron or Moldflow software can accurately parse and export the 3D meshes. However, you can use convert.guru as a pragmatic workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the exact format version, inspect the internal file structure, and extract readable text. If our analysis detects a supported embedded thumbnail or nested data stream, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MF1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MF1 file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Cimatron or similar software from the "CAD/CAM Model Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to MF1, try Cimatron or another comparable tool in the "CAD/CAM Model Storage" category.
The MF1 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MF1 converter.
