Convert a file to LIX

To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Library Index" file type, you need software like Logos Bible Software or a similar tool.

About LIX files

The .lix file format primarily serves as a Library Index for Logos Bible Software (formerly the Libronix Digital Library System). It acts as an internal database that catalogs and organizes massive collections of theological texts, reference books, and linguistic tools. Alternatively, .lix files are utilized by IKUSI Felix software as remote control firmware packages, which are structurally just standard ZIP archives. A much rarer third use case is for software libraries within ExtendSim simulation software.

Users typically encounter issues with .lix files when trying to back up library structures, extract specific book data, or inspect firmware updates. The main disadvantage of the Logos .lix format is its proprietary lock-in. It requires a heavy, expensive, and specialized software installation to open and is completely unreadable by standard text editors or web browsers.

If you need to extract human-readable data from an index, converting to CSV or TXT is the theoretical goal, though formatting and relational data will be lost. For IKUSI firmware files, the target format is simply ZIP.

This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert online. Because the Logos Bible format is a closed system, standard online converters fail to parse the proprietary data structure. Often, only the original Libronix or Logos software can properly read or export the database. However, just drag and drop your .lix file into convert.guru to identify the format. We will inspect the file and extract any readable text or internal content. If our analysis detects the embedded ZIP format used by IKUSI, immediate viewing and extraction of the firmware files will be supported.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LIX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted LSF, LBXLLS, LBXSDG, LBXALV and NUMBERS files.

The LIX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LIX converter.
