About LGC files
The .LGC file extension is primarily associated with proprietary game logic scripts, level configurations, and engine-specific data files. They dictate in-game events, AI behavior, and structural logic for legacy and mod-heavy games. Engines and studios utilizing this format include the X-Ray Engine (developed by GSC Game World), Sigma Team, Burut Creative Team, and classic titles like LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge. In rare enterprise scenarios, .LGC also functions as a SimpleK Database File by Prosystech or a WordPerfect DTD Compiler Logic File by Corel.
The major disadvantage of the .LGC format is its highly fragmented and proprietary nature. There is no universal standard for how an .LGC file is structured. Depending on the game or software, the file may be plain text, XML-based, or heavily compiled binary data. This means files cannot be opened by default operating system tools, require specialized community-built modding software to edit, and cannot be natively viewed in web browsers. If you are dealing with a database variant, you are entirely locked into the original software ecosystem.
For modders and developers, converting plain-text .LGC scripts to TXT, XML, or JSON is the best workaround for syntax highlighting and safe editing. Database users should aim to export their data to CSV to prevent vendor lock-in.
Standard online converters almost universally fail to process .LGC files because it is a closed, proprietary format with multiple conflicting definitions. Often, only the original game engine, developer console, or specific software can properly read or export the data. However, just drag and drop your file onto convert.guru to identify the exact format, view its internal structure, and extract text strings. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded text format, safe viewing and conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LGC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LGC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LGC converter.
