The .LDS file extension primarily represents an Aircraft Load Sheet document utilized by Lufthansa Systems Lido/Flight. These files store critical payload, weight, and balance calculations required for commercial flight operations. Beyond aviation, .LDS files are also used as compressed game asset archives in the Capcom MT Framework engine, measurement report layouts in PC-DMIS CMM software, and linker scripts for the GNU Project.
The major disadvantage of the .LDS format is its highly specialized and proprietary nature. An aviation load sheet is meaningless outside of the specific airline's operational software environment. Similarly, game asset .LDS files are heavily packed binary containers that require dedicated modding tools to read.
