About LB files

A .LB file typically represents a Unity Asset Bundle, a proprietary container format used by the Unity game engine to package resources like textures, 3D models, audio clips, and prefabs. These files allow developers to stream content dynamically, but they pose significant accessibility challenges for end-users and modders. Because .LB files are serialized binary containers often compressed with LZ4 or LZMA, they cannot be opened by standard image viewers, media players, or 3D modeling tools like Blender. Users frequently encounter "unknown file format" errors or version mismatches, as the internal structure is strictly tied to the specific version of the Unity Editor used to build them.

To access the content locked inside a Unity .LB file, conversion is necessary. For 3D models, converting to OBJ or FBX is ideal for editing. For textures, PNG or TGA ensures compatibility with web and design tools. Audio assets should be extracted to WAV or MP3 for playback.

In a business context, a .LB file may alternatively be a label template created by ZebraDesigner for thermal printers. These files rely on the Zebra Programming Language (ZPL) and are difficult to view without dedicated printer hardware or expensive software. Converting these label files to PDF is the standard solution for archiving, proofing, and printing on standard office equipment without requiring specialized drivers.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted LEVEL1, PROG, __DATA, G and N files.

The LB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LB converter.
