About KZP files

The .kzp file extension primarily acts as a 3D home design project created by HomeByMe, a web-based space planning application developed by WanaPlan. These files store detailed floor plans, furniture placement coordinates, and architectural layouts. A secondary use for .kzp files is as a Kony project package file used by Kony Visualizer (now part of Temenos) for cross-platform app development. This secondary developer format is actually a standard ZIP archive containing structured project assets.

The main disadvantage of the HomeByMe .kzp format is its highly proprietary nature. It requires an active internet connection and a HomeByMe user account to open or edit. You cannot natively open these files in standard 3D CAD software like Blender or AutoCAD. This severe vendor lock-in means collaborating with architects or engineers using standard tools is extremely difficult without specifically exporting data from the original application.

To share 3D space plans effectively, you should export your project to universal target formats like PDF for 2D floor plans, or OBJ and STL for 3D models, though some texture data may be lost in conversion. For Kony projects, the solution is much simpler: you can rename the extension to ZIP to extract the internal code and images.

Because the HomeByMe .kzp file is a closed, proprietary format, standard online 3D converters usually fail to process it. Often, only the original web software can properly read or export the 3D data. However, you can drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the exact format, inspect the file structure, and view text or internal content. If our analysis detects the standard ZIP-based Kony format or embedded assets, viewing or extracting your data may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your KZP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PRJPCB, EAP and RXPROJ files.

The KZP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KZP converter.
