The .rxproj file is a master project file created by RPG Maker XP. It functions as the central hub for a 2D role-playing game, loading the database, maps, events, and the Ruby Game Scripting System (RGSS) scripts. This file is exclusively managed by RPG Maker XP, a game development engine originally developed by Enterbrain. Users often seek to convert this file because it is strictly proprietary and requires a paid software license to open. A major real-world limitation is that the .rxproj file itself does not contain any game assets. If it is separated from the associated Data and Graphics folders, the file becomes completely useless. Furthermore, projects built in this 2004 engine cannot be directly imported into modern game engines like Unity or Godot.
