About KDBX files
The .KDBX file is the encrypted database standard used by KeePass Password Safe and compatible managers like KeePassXC to store sensitive credentials. While highly secure, this format creates a distinct proprietary lock-in; you cannot open a .KDBX file in a standard text editor, web browser, or spreadsheet application without the specific master password and a compatible client. Users frequently face difficulties when trying to migrate their credentials to cloud-based services like 1Password or Bitwarden, or when attempting to view their data on mobile devices lacking native support. To overcome these compatibility barriers, the most practical solution is to convert the .KDBX database into a universally readable format. For migration and spreadsheet editing, converting to CSV is the standard. For developers and archival purposes, XML preserves the data structure, while HTML creates a printable, human-readable backup.
Convert.Guru analyzes your KDBX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert KDBX file to CSV, KDB, DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB or MYD, you can use KeePass or similar software from the "Encrypted Password Vault" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to KDBX, try KeePass or another comparable tool in the "Encrypted Password Vault" category.
The KDBX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KDBX converter.
