About KCC files

The .KCC file is a proprietary Dealer Management System (DMS) connection configuration file primarily used by CDK Global Autoline (formerly known as Kerridge). IT administrators use these files to distribute correct database routing, server IP addresses, port numbers, and client-side terminal settings to local computers within an automotive dealership. Without this file, the local client application cannot communicate with the central DMS server.

The primary disadvantage of the .KCC format is that it is entirely proprietary and useless outside the specific enterprise network it was built for. It requires an active, often expensive commercial subscription to the CDK Global Autoline software suite to execute properly. The format is not natively supported by web browsers or standard operating systems, meaning users cannot easily double-click to view the network routing rules contained within.

Users typically look to convert or open .KCC files when migrating servers, troubleshooting network errors, or auditing system credentials. The best practical conversion targets are plain text formats like TXT, XML, or JSON. Converting to these formats strips away the executable application association but allows network administrators to read the raw connection strings. Note that if the specific DMS version encrypts its configuration files, extracting plain text may yield unreadable alphanumeric strings.

Because this is a closed, proprietary enterprise format, standard online document converters fail to process it. Only the original Autoline software can properly parse and utilize the data to establish a database connection. However, convert.guru offers a pragmatic workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying text or embedded XML format within the .KCC file, viewing the critical server settings or converting them to a readable format may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your KCC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, CBR, CBZ, EPUB, MOBI, JPEG, ZIP, KCL and SHU files.

The KCC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KCC converter.
