A .KCC file is a connection configuration file primarily used by CDK Global Autoline (formerly known as Kerridge) and K8 dealer management systems (DMS). These files act as the handshake credentials between a dealership's client terminal and the central DMS server, storing critical parameters like the server's IP address, port numbers, terminal IDs, and connection protocols.
The primary problem with .KCC files is their proprietary nature; they are designed solely for the internal consumption of the Autoline launchpad. IT administrators or dealership staff often encounter these files during system migrations or backups and need to extract the connection details - such as the specific Host IP - to configure a new machine manually. However, opening them in a standard text editor often yields unreadable characters if the file is binary-encoded or encrypted.
For most users, the goal isn't to convert the file for use in another program, but rather to decode or view its contents.
