About JDR files
The .jdr file is a proprietary digital video format created by Jet-Stream DVR systems, Journey Digital Recorders, and JAEWONCNC for IROAD dash cameras. These files store continuous security and driving footage. To open these files natively, you must use proprietary software like the JDR Viewer or the IROAD PC Viewer.
The main disadvantage of the .jdr format is its heavily restricted compatibility. Standard media players like VLC Media Player or Windows Media Player cannot read it because it uses a custom container and lacks standard video codecs. This creates a major problem when you need to quickly share security or accident footage with law enforcement, insurance agents, or upload it to the web.
Converting your .jdr file is the only practical workaround. For web uploads and sharing, convert to mp4 (H.264) for maximum universal compatibility. For local archiving, convert to avi or mkv. Note that conversion will likely strip proprietary metadata like GPS coordinates or dashcam G-sensor data. Drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it securely right in your browser.

The JDR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JDR converter.
