About ILG files
The .ilg file extension is primarily associated with InstallShield Installation Log files. Created by Flexera InstallShield, these files track the exact system changes - such as registry edits and copied files - made during a software installation. A secondary use is the ImageLink Indexed Data file utilized by IBM Content Manager OnDemand. InstallShield .ilg files rely on a proprietary Microsoft Compound binary structure. This makes them exceptionally difficult to read without the original uninstaller engine or specific log viewing utilities. Users often need to convert these files to standard text formats to audit system changes, troubleshoot failed installations, or extract specific registry paths. Converting an .ilg file to TXT, XML, or CSV is the most practical solution for universal readability, though doing so strips the proprietary execution structure required by the uninstaller. Standard online converters fail because this is a closed, proprietary format designed exclusively for system operations, not generic data exchange.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ILG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ILG file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Flexera InstallShield or similar software from the "Installation Tracking Log File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to ILG, try Flexera InstallShield or another comparable tool in the "Installation Tracking Log File" category.
The ILG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ILG converter.
