About ICT files
The .ICT file extension primarily represents either a NASA ICARTT data file used for atmospheric science or an IncuCyte graph file generated by live-cell analysis systems. A smaller percentage of .ICT files are ID card design templates created by software like Jolly ID Flow or CardExchange.
Working with .ICT files is frustrating because they belong to highly specialized, often expensive scientific or industrial ecosystems. If you receive an .ICT file from a NASA atmospheric study or a Sartorius IncuCyte system, you cannot simply double-click it. The ICARTT format uses complex, custom ASCII headers that break standard spreadsheet imports. IncuCyte files require proprietary lab software to render the graphs visually. ID card templates are closed binary files that lock your design data inside specific software licenses.
To make this data usable, you typically need to convert .ICT files to standard formats. NASA ICARTT data should be converted to CSV or TXT for analysis in Python, R, or Excel. IncuCyte files are actually built on XML, so converting or renaming them to XML exposes the raw data structure, though the visual graph layout will be lost. ID card templates cannot be easily converted without the original software, as the proprietary formatting will not translate to standard image files.
Because multiple unrelated software programs use the .ICT extension, standard online converters usually fail to process them. These tools look for standard headers that .ICT files do not have. Our platform can inspect the file, detect whether it contains ASCII atmospheric data, XML-based live-cell data, or binary card templates, and extract the underlying content safely.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ICT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ICT file to IST, you can use NASA Data Tools or similar software from the "Scientific Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The ICT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ICT converter.
