About IBQ files

The .IBQ file is an IsoBuster Managed Image created by the data recovery software IsoBuster. It is primarily used to store exact sector-by-sector copies of optical discs (CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays), hard drives, or flash memory.

The primary software used to open and manage these files is IsoBuster, a powerful utility designed specifically to recover data from damaged, scratched, or corrupted media.

The .IBQ format is strictly proprietary and highly restrictive. It is not supported by standard operating systems like Windows, macOS, or Linux. You cannot mount an .IBQ file directly in a virtual drive like an ISO file. Additionally, these files can be massive, as they clone every single sector of a drive, including empty space. Users face a hard limitation: without installing a paid license for specific recovery software, the cloned data remains completely locked and inaccessible.

The most practical solution is to extract or convert the .IBQ file to a standard ISO or IMG disk image, which can be mounted natively by modern operating systems. Be aware that specific error-correction metadata regarding bad sectors mapped during the recovery process will be lost when converting to a standard ISO.

Because this file format is heavily structured and proprietary, it is difficult for standard online converters to process. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the raw disk data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extracting files may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IBQ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted IBP, DD and ODM files.
