About IBP files

You likely encountered this file while attempting to recover data from a damaged optical disc. An .IBP file is an IsoBuster Managed Image Information file, used exclusively by Smart Projects IsoBuster. Crucially, the .IBP file is not the disk image itself; it is a lightweight control file (often only a few KB) that maps the structure and recovery status of a much larger, paired IBQ file containing the actual binary data.

A common issue for users is finding that .IBP files cannot be mounted in standard virtual drives or burned directly by software like Nero Burning ROM. Because the format is designed for incremental data recovery - tracking which sectors are readable and which are gaps - it is locked into the IsoBuster workflow. Furthermore, if you possess only the .IBP file without its IBQ counterpart, you are missing the actual content.

To make the data usable, you must convert the project into a standard format:

Convert.Guru analyzes your IBP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted IBQ, DD and DTP files.
