Convert a file to IBP
To convert other file formats to the "Managed Disk Image" file type, you need software like IsoBuster or a similar tool.
About IBP files
The .IBP file is a proprietary Managed Disk Image Information file created by IsoBuster during the optical disc data recovery process. It is used alongside a much larger companion IBQ file to store data recovered from damaged CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. The .IBP file acts as a metadata index, mapping the read sectors, tracking errors, and allowing the user to pause and resume the recovery process later.
Users frequently need to convert .IBP files because they are completely proprietary. The biggest disadvantage of this format is that it is locked into the IsoBuster ecosystem. You cannot natively mount an .IBP file in Windows or macOS, and standard virtual drive tools like Daemon Tools will reject it. Furthermore, the .IBP file is entirely useless if separated from its IBQ data counterpart. To share or mount the recovered disk image, you must convert the project into standard ISO, BIN, or IMG formats. Note that converting to a standard format finalizes the image, meaning you can no longer resume the hardware-level data recovery process on that specific file.
Because this is a closed, proprietary format that relies on a local companion file, standard online converters constantly fail to process it. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can inspect the .IBP file's headers, and if our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or metadata extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your IBP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert IBP file to ISO, IMG, DMG, VHD, VMDK, VDI, HDD, QCOW, QCOW2, RAW, VBOX or OVA, you can use IsoBuster or similar software from the "Optical Disc Data Recovery" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert VFD, DMG, OVA, IMA, VBOX, ADF, PVS, VHD, OVF, ISO, DSK or IMG files to IBP, try IsoBuster or another comparable tool in the "Optical Disc Data Recovery" category.
The IBP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IBP converter.
