About HSC files

The .hsc file extension is most commonly a Process Simulation Case file created by Aspen HYSYS. Chemical engineers use these files to model complex chemical processes, calculate thermodynamic behavior, and design industrial facilities. The format stores detailed simulation parameters, flowsheets, and equipment specifications. Less commonly, .hsc files act as compressed game data files in titles like Dragonica, as maps for Hammer Editor, or as XML interface designs for Kinco HMIware.

The main disadvantage of the Aspen HYSYS .hsc format is that it is strictly proprietary. It requires an expensive, specialized enterprise software license to open or edit. You cannot open these files in standard web browsers, text editors, or basic spreadsheet software. Sharing these models with external stakeholders or clients who lack a dedicated software license is a major real-world bottleneck.

To share the data, users must export the simulation results directly from the native software to more accessible target formats like CSV, XLSX, or PDF. However, exporting to these formats results in a static snapshot of the data. You will lose the live thermodynamic models, interactive flowsheets, and automated calculations.

Because the primary .hsc file is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Only the original software can properly read or export the complex engineering data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like a renamed ZIP archive in Dragon Saga game files or plain XML in HMI files - viewing or extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your HSC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SSLC, PDF, ZIP, TXT, SIG, SAV, TSX, ENC, BK0, MPP and XML files.

FAQ

If you want to convert HSC file to XML, DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT or X_T, you can use Aspen HYSYS or similar software from the "Process Simulation Case File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to HSC, try Aspen HYSYS or another comparable tool in the "Process Simulation Case File" category.

The HSC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HSC converter.
