About HPF files

The .HPF file extension is primarily associated with proprietary scientific data files. It most commonly functions as an X-ray diffraction analysis file generated by Malvern Panalytical HighScore software. Alternatively, it is used as a hierarchical data format file by data acquisition software like Data Translation QuickDAQ. Less frequently, it stores XML-based document packages for the Hancom word processor, High Performance Fortran source code, or even legacy program files for the vintage HP9100A calculator.

The main disadvantage of scientific .HPF files is their severely closed ecosystem. They contain complex data sets - often compressed using internal zlib formatting - that require an expensive, specialized software license to read or modify. Users cannot open these files in standard office suites or web browsers. They are essentially black boxes to anyone outside the lab environment.

Standard online converters fail to process .HPF files because they lack the specific proprietary algorithms needed to decode the hierarchical or diffraction data. If you need to share this data with colleagues, you must open the file in its original software and export it to an open format like CSV or TXT for analysis in tools like Microsoft Excel. If our analysis detects an underlying text, zlib, or XML framework, we can extract the embedded content even if full structural conversion is blocked by vendor lock-in.

Convert.Guru analyzes your HPF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted HPF2, XRDML, TXT, PDF, XLSX, SKR and GEF files.

FAQ

If you want to convert HPF file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use Malvern Panalytical HighScore or similar software from the "X-ray Diffraction Analysis" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to HPF, try Malvern Panalytical HighScore or another comparable tool in the "X-ray Diffraction Analysis" category.

The HPF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HPF converter.
