Convert SKR to another file type
To convert SKR Keyrings to another format, you need GnuPG or other Data software.
Convert a file to SKR
To convert other file formats to the "XML Data / Encryption Keys" file type, you need software like GnuPG or a similar tool.
About SKR files
The .skr file extension is most frequently associated with a KfW-Studienkreditantrag, a German student loan application generated by KfW Bank. These files store applicant data in a structured XML format. Alternatively, .skr files function as PGP Secret Keyrings in software like GnuPG or Symantec Encryption Desktop, which hold a user's private cryptographic keys for secure communication.
The main disadvantage of both formats is their strict dependency on specific environments. A KfW .skr file is useless without the bank's portal, and reading the raw XML data manually is annoying. Similarly, PGP .skr files are highly sensitive, proprietary database files that cannot be double-clicked or opened in standard text editors without exposing or corrupting your cryptographic keys.
Users often need to convert KfW .skr files into PDF for printing or TXT to verify the submitted text. For encryption purposes, PGP keyrings usually need to be exported to ASCII-armored ASC files to migrate keys to other devices securely.
Because these are highly specialized formats, standard online converters fail to process them. You cannot simply convert an encrypted keyring into a readable document without the original software and passphrase. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SKR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SKR file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use GnuPG or similar software from the "Loan Application / Key Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to SKR, try GnuPG or another comparable tool in the "Loan Application / Key Storage" category.
The SKR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SKR converter.
